SRDB 36th BOG Meeting

The 36th meeting of BOG SRDB was held in the meeting room of PSMA office, Main Gulberg, Lahore on Monday, 06th October 2025, at 1:00 PM.

BOG members showed satisfaction and appreciated the efforts being made for approval of SRDB Act-2025; distribution of Brazilian sugarcane fuzz (112 crosses) among seven public and private sector research institutes; active participation and representation of SRDB by CEO in ISSCT Centennial Congress at Colombia, and efforts to sign Biological Material Transfer Agreement between SRDB and International Research Institutes of Latin America, Africa, and Asian countries for import of fuzz, technology and training of scientists.

Board approved hiring of internal auditor, budget for training on sugarcane production technology, printing of sugarcane variety identification guide, expenses incurred on participation in ISSCT, cash prize/medals on sugarcane variety development, two scholarships for M.Sc. (Hons.) Plant Breeding and Genetics studies are working on sugarcane.

The board also gave approval to invite sugarcane machinery and drip tape irrigation manufacturers from Thailand to develop a business model of sugarcane mechanization/drip tape irrigation in Punjab; one week visit of Dr. William Lee from Brazil to develop sugarcane full scale breeding plan for Pakistan.
