Abstract

Current study was designed to evaluate to qualitative analysis of two sweet sorghum hybrids sown at three different dates. The experiment was laid out in a three replicated Randomized Complete Block Design with split pilot arrangements. The treatments included three sowing dates viz: 10 July, 20 July and 30 July, 2019 and two sweet sorghum Hybrids (ABRMS and ABRSG-1). The observations studied were chlorophyll contents (μmol m-2 ), stem diameter (cm), internodal distance (cm), plant height (cm), fiber (%), dry matter (%), pH, ash (%), crude protein (%), crude fiber (%) and brix (%). Statistical analysis revealed that different sowing time has significant effect on improvement and declining of qualitative traits of both sweet sorghum. Maximum chlorophyll contents (56.94) were recorded in ABRMS Sweet Sorghum” hybrid sown on 10th July while maximum stem diameter (3.08 cm) was produced by ABRSG-1 Sweet Sorghum hybrid sown on 10th July. Highest intermodal distance (25.16 cm) and plant height (508.00 cm) was recorded when the sorghum crop was sown on 10th July. Sweet Sorghum hybrid ABRMS sown on 10th, 20th and 30th of July gave maximum brix (15%), fiber (54%) dry matter (30%) and crude fiber (28%).
