Dr. Shahid Afghan is working as Acting CEO at Sugarcane Research and Development Board. He has 30-year experience of sugarcane plant improvement, teaching and administration. Dr. Afghan 
is HEC approved PhD supervisor, Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Sugar Journal, also he has completed national and international research projects on sugarcane with WWF-Pakistan, Science Foundation, Agri. Linkage Program-PARC, HEC-USAID and PARB. He is member of 10 national and international scientific societies and has organized six workshops on sugarcacne crop and also participated sugarcane crop international conferences in USA, Brazil, Thailand, China, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Mauritius. Dr. Afghan is author of three books and one training manual on sugarcane production technology with more than 100 research papers in open asses and impact factor journals in the country and abroad. He has been awarded with four Gold medals for best research work on sugarcane crop improvement.
